For the 2017 Sitecore Global Virtual Summit, I had the pleasure of presenting with my esteemed colleague Boris Brodsky on the topic of “Embracing the Cloud with Sitecore and Azure Search.” With modern cloud services such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services becoming ubiquitous the natural path is to leverage as many Platform as a Service (PaaS) features as possible to reduce maintenance costs. When you couple Sitecore with Azure Search your search subsystem is transformed into a maintenance-free search platform in the Microsoft Azure Cloud. With a simple change of the Sitecore content search provider to Azure Search, your Sitecore instance can now have the power and efficiency of cloud-enabled SaaS Search.
